Solarize MA Summit
On June 24th 2022, the 32nd Annual Conference from The Sustainable Business Network of MA (SBN) featured its very first Solarize MA Summit. Since the Fall of 2021, SBN has worked to convene a coalition of Solar Energy leaders in MA with a mission of contributing to the Governor’s goal of having 50% of our MA energy come from renewable sources by 2030.
Our Summit brought together 35 solar energy leaders in Massachusetts to identify key initiatives that need to be addressed to accomplish the Solarize MA Coalition's four objectives. Below is a brief report of our Summit:35 solar energy leaders were brought together to brainstorm how to increase the acceleration of solar energy in Massachusetts
Of these 35 leaders, 20 represented businesses (mostly in solar), 10 represented non profits directly involved in solar, 5 represented entities that work in financing or recruiting for solar, and 1 represented a government agency
We held 3 informative and engaging panel sessions around 1) Policy and Legislation 2) Workforce Development and 3) Model Solar Energy Communities each facilitated by an active member of SBN’s Solarize MA Coalition
We formed 3 breakout sessions with the intention of developing concrete action steps around the objectives mentioned above
We held 1 speaker session presented by the largest financier of solar energy in the state
4-5 working groups have been formed since the summit focusing on 1) Policy and Legislation 2) Workforce Development and 3) Model Solar Energy Communities 4) Developing a Marketing and Education Campaign and 5) Financing Solar
Participants left the Summit with renewed enthusiasm and commitment to engage in action steps
