This last week, Boston’s food renaissance was reinvigorated as the Boston Local Food Festival whet appetites and turned heads - introducing Boston to a whole new world of healthy local food. Ever tried a wing sauce that is as good at home as it is in the restaurants? Or a breakfast sauce that combines two of the most quintessentially New England things: maple syrup and marshmallow fluff? What about a buffet of nearly 90 delectable food discoveries lined up for your perusal, from carousel to harbor on an otherworldly pre-fall day?

For 12 years, the Boston Local Food Festival has centered food as a crucial part of the Boston experience. Every third Sunday in September, food seekers convene on the Rose Kennedy Greenway to relish their newest go-to taste craves. This year was no exception, as the Greenway transformed into a cornucopia of hidden delights - flowing with 40,000 eager eaters and embellished with brilliant displays and savory-scented sensations. The 2022 festival brought to life the faces behind the food businesses that have come to define the culture and character of our region; the creators of Curio Spice, Aqua ViTea, WiseMouth, Craic Sauce, World Farmers, Beth Bakes, Fork on a Road, Yamacu, Koy, and other local favorites joined us to tell of their voyage from journeyman to food master.

To the supporters from afar who couldn’t make it this time, mark your calendars now for next year’s Festival and treat yourself to a post-festival feast from this year’s list of remarkable vendors in our festival program, or check out the Eat Local MA App to see what's in your area. And to the staff, volunteers, and vendors who made this exciting whirlwind of a day possible, I hope you’ll take a moment to sit down, have a bite, and marvel in the simple yet powerful nature of food to unite and unwind.
